Boom Alenia Aermacchi, Finmeccanica Company, receiving a super order by the Australian Government for the supply of ten aircraft C-27J Spartan for a value of about 800 million. The delivery of the aircraft is expected in 2015 while the initial operational capability by the end of 2016.
The contract also includes logistics support for some years, training for crews and maintenance personnel on the ground and a series of additional services that the ability to operate, maintain and modify the aircraft through the entire life cycle.

In particular, the order of Australia is an important result that will serve to give more support to the development of engineering capabilities and to protect all levels of the workforce of Alenia Aermacchi production sites in Campania and Turin respectively engaged in the manufacture and integration and final assembly. Inoltre la commessa garantirà un positivo impatto economico ed occupazionale anche sull’estesa rete di aziende che rappresentano la nostra supply chain e l’indotto”. In Australia, the C-27J Spartan aircraft will replace the Caribou (after 40 years of activity), integrandosi perfettamente con i C-130 e i C-17 già in servizio con la RAAF. Il C-27J è già stato ordinato dalle forze aeree italiana, Greek, Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Romania, Moroccan, Mexican and by the U.S..
Have now been ordered 89 aircraft.
