Lovers of low-cost airlines will be happy to know that easyJet is planning to open another base to provide airline tickets cheaply to travel throughout Europe.
The 23rd base will be located in sunny Lisbon, in the heart of Portugal. I voli easyjet to take off 21 destinations, increasing the connectivity of Portugal with the rest of Europe.
An official ceremony was held with Carolyn McCall, CEO at easyJet, and Alvaro Santos Pereira, Portuguese Minister of Economy.
Filipe Silva, Director of Tourism of Portugal, said "The opening of the base of Lisbon, is of significant importance in the continued strengthening of the relations of the United Kingdom and Portugal. We are confident that this new investment will benefit the development of Portugal as a tourist destination. "
A number of government officials attended the ceremony, including Cecilia Meireles, Portuguese Secretary of State for Tourism, Sergio Monteiro, Secretary of State for Transport, and many other.
EasyJet expects to carry four million passengers to and from all 2012 in Portugal.
