Vega: ready to launch!

The ESA's new launcher, Vega, has been assembled and is ready for launch. The final preparations are in full swing for the maiden flight of the space launcher European port. The launch window you open the 9 February.

 

The so-called "upper composite" – the part that encloses LARES, ALMASaT-1, seven CubeSats, the adapter for the load and the Fairing – was moved on the ramp in the late evening of Monday. A transfer at night is standard practice in Kourou to avoid overheating of the load.

 

The move ended early Tuesday morning with his installation on dedicated stands inside the mobile tower waiting to be joined to the caster. The "composite" was then mounted above all'AVUM, the fourth stage, to finalize the electrical connections and check the connections, concluding with the final mechanical connection.  

 

The main steps still remained to be done for the inaugural flight control assembly of the vehicle, evidence of the countdown and supply dell'AVUM, which has the characteristic of being able to be turned on again.
