Spirit Airlines confirms order for 75 A320 which 45 A320neo

Strong increase in the demand for eco-efficient Airbus single-aisle in the U.S.

Spirit Airlines has finalized its firm order for 75 Airbus single-aisle aircraft in 45 A320neo (new engine option). The Letter of Intent (MoU) was announced at the Dubai Air Show 2011. The company has not announced his choice on the engine to. The order related to Spirit Airlines 45 A320neo was recorded in December 2011. The confirmation of 30 more A320, occurred in January, leads to 75 the total number of aircraft of this new firm order.

The A320neo is the new engine option for the A320 Family, which will be operational from 2015. The aircraft are equipped with the latest generation of reactors and "Sharklets", large wing devices, together, will reduce the 15% fuel consumption. This saving is equivalent to 1,4 million liters of fuel, equal to the consumption of 1.000 mid-sized cars. Means saving 3.600 tonnes of CO2 per aircraft per year, which is equivalent to the amount absorbed by 240.000 trees that have reached maturity.

The A320 Family has logged orders for more than 8.300 aircraft, of which almost 5.000 already delivered to over 340 customers and operators worldwide, confirming its position as the family of best-selling single-aisle aircraft ever. The A320neo has over 95% of structural commonality with the existing A320, allowing its easy integration into existing fleets and offering a range of up to an extra Measuring 950 km / 500mn, two or more tons of cargo.
