Events in the Veneto and Sicily with Alessandro Ploner, sample of hang gliding

The glider pilot Alexander Ploner, 35 years of San Cassiano (Bolzano), four world titles and two Italian, multi national champion snowmobile and ski in the life, will star in two rounds at the ends of the peninsula.

 

 

Saturday 26 November, hours 19, at Alpstation (Mount) Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza), Ploner was invited by Aero Club Alpstation Montegrappa and to tell and reveal the secrets of his amazing career: techniques, preparation, motivation and technical details to develop the equipment before facing the sky flying without an engine. The evening, limited to only 100 Participants, will be preceded by a reception offered by Aero Club and AlpStation from Montegrappa, one of the most important associations of hang glider and paraglider pilots in Italy with hundreds of members.

At the Metropolitan Theatre of Catania, Monday 28 November at 20,30, Alexander Ploner will be given an important recognition by the Fondazione Angelo D'Arrigo. This is the prize of the same name, now in its fifth edition, which bears the name of another great who died prematurely in the flight 2006. D'Arrigo was hang-gliding pilot and internationally renowned ethologist. Performed extraordinary feats flying over the Sahara desert by the route of migratory hawks, driving down a flight of the Siberian crane to reintroduce them in their natural habitat, flying over the peaks of Everest and Aconcagua. In the past the prize was awarded to Simona Atzori, a Piero Angela, Margherita Hack and Peter Mennea.

 

The show will alternate on stage artists like Angelo Branduardi and songwriter with Giana Guiana Lautari, while the historic company of brothers Naples will present a drama project aimed at consecrating the figure of Angelo D'Arrigo as a new baby in the legendary world of the Sicilian puppets. The proceeds from ticket sales will be used for charity projects of the Foundation D'Arrigo, led by Laura Mancuso. Those made in recent years, the construction of a nursery and a medical post in the small village in Peru Paccarectambo, reminiscent of the companies and the ideals of Angelo.
