Boeing submitted a proposal for the U.S. Army for a multiyear contract for the production and supply of 155 CH-47F helicopters.
“This second proposal will give the ability to not only vertical lift that soldiers need every day, but also generates hundreds of millions of dollars in savings for taxpayers and the government of the United States”, said Leanne Caret, Vice President of Boeing.
“With this agreement, Boeing will be able to negotiate long-term agreements with suppliers, make the necessary investments in production equipment and processes, more effectively for capital expenditures.” The program H-47 is half his first multi-year contract, awarded in August 2008, for 191 CH-47F Chinook.
Since he completed the first CH-47F in 2006, Boeing has eight units trained and equipped U.S. Army and is in the process of equipping the ninth. Six units have completed deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, where the helicopter has logged nearly 70.000 flight hours and maintained an operational availability rate of oltrel ' 85 percent conducting air assault, transport, medical evacuations and operations support.
