The consortium MIDCAS, consisting of 13 industrie europee – including Alenia Aeronautica, SELEX Galileo, SELEX Communications and SELEX Integrated Systems Finmeccanica – has been awarded a contract for the supply of the MID-air Collision Avoidance System by the European Defence Agency (EDA) behalf of the Member States (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Sweden, the latter as the lead nation for the project).
The contract value is around 50 million, for a period of four years. The contract involves the construction of a Sense & Avoid able to identify and avoid potential collision threats in flight for unmanned aircraft (UAS, Unmanned Aircraft Systems).
The project's objective is to establish MIDCAS, in close collaboration with European organizations such as Eurocontrol, EUROCAE (European Organisation for Civil Aviation Equipment) ed EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency), a standard Sense & Avoid for unmanned, developing, through simulation and flight test, a system capable of meeting, safely, the requirements for traffic separation and collision avoidance in non-segregated airspace.
Coordination with the United States will be ensured mainly through participation in EUROCAE WG73 organizations such as the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA) e la Federal Aviation Authority (FAA). Al quartier generale dell’That hanno aspettato l’appuntamento col Salone Aerospaziale di Le Bourget, la più prestigiosa manifestazione mondiale nel settore aerospaziale. Per puntare ufficialmente le proprie fiches sul programma di sviluppo della navicella spaziale europea, momentaneamente denominato FLPP (Future Launchers Preparatory Programme), e sui nuovi lanci per l’implementazione del sistema di navigazione satellitare Galileo. Vale a dire due dei progetti più ambiziosi portati avanti dall’Esa.
Significative le novità per quanto riguarda Galileo, che dopo il lancio l’anno scorso del secondo satellite di validazione Giove-B è entrato nella lunga e complessa fase di procurement. L’accordo siglato Tuesday 16 June, davanti al responsabile Ue della navigazione satellitare Paul Verhoef, of Jean-Yves Le Gall (presidente e amministratore delegato di Arianespace) and René Oosterlinck (direttore Esa del programma Galileo) imprime infatti una decisa accelerazione all’agenda dei lavori. Il prototipo dell’IXV, che sarà lungo circa 5 metri e peserà meno di due tonnellate (più o meno come un’automobile), verrà costruito quasi interamente negli stabilimenti torinesi di ThalesAleniaSpace. Le compagnie low-cost, a cominciare dalla Ryanair, devono rassegnarsi ad andare via da Ciampino.
Come hanno dimostrato le rilevazioni dell’Agenzia Regionale per l’Ambiente (ARPA) Region of Lazio, secondo le leggi italiane ed europee non c’è spazio a Ciampino per loro né per nessun’altra compagnia aerea.
Ryanair e il To. O’Leary devono capire che l’Italia non è una repubblica delle banane e i limiti dell’inquinamento acustico previsti dalla legge vanno rispettati. ARPA Lazio, Ente istituzionale che ha il compito della tutela ambientale, ha rilevato che la salute di oltre 14.000 citizens is at risk, dimostrando che le proteste dei Cittadini e dei Sindaci erano giuste. Secondo la legge, queste rilevazioni avrebbero dovuto farle già 10 anni fa ENAC e AdR e, attraverso l’apposita commissione aeroportuale, individuare i limiti allo sviluppo di questo aeroporto.

Come hanno già illustrato al Ministro i Sindaci di Ciampino e Marino, è possibile da subito spostare tutti i voli civili da Ciampino e mettere in sicurezza la popolazione, perché l’aeroporto di Fiumicino è ampiamente in grado di riceverli. Dopo aver messo in sicurezza la popolazione si potrà decidere su quali aeroporti dovranno operare i voli low-cost.
Solo Ryanair rifiuta ancora di spostarsi a Fiumicino mentre altre compagnie, come per esempio Easy Jet, hanno già cominciato a trasferirsi e molte sono le compagnie a basso costo che già operano da Fiumicino.
Ci dispiace per il Sig. O’Leary, che urla e si dispera, ma se la sua compagnia non è in grado di organizzarsi come tutte le altre low-cost non possono essere i cittadini a farne le spese.

Gli organizzatori britannici dell’airshow, la Farnborough International Ltd (FIL) hanno firmato dei contratti ufficiali come organizzatori partner del Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS), che sarà tenuto alla base aerea di Sakhir il 21-23 January 2010.
La cerimonia di firma e la conferenza stampa sono avvenuti all’hotel di Parigi sito a Plaza di Crowne, Place de la Republique, dove l’azienda sta promuovendo sia l’evento BIAS che il più ben famoso Farnborough Airshow che avverrà il 19-25 July 2010.
I contratti BIAS sono stati firmati dal CEO di FIL, of Shaun Ormrod e dal sottosegretario di CAA, il capitano Abdulrahman Al Gaoud. Amanda Stainer, le direttore di eventi e mostre per FIL ha commentato: “Sono onorata che tanta gente abbia potuto assistere all’odierno evento per testimoniare la firma dei contratti per questa nuova esposizione dell’aria.
